Charity Work

Campaigns to raise awareness of the seriousness of type 1 diabetes include: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF); Diabetics with Eating Disorders (DWED); singing at charity events; and fund-raising. Public Speaking engagements include the 'Focus on Eyes' campaign at Westminster, alongside Sir Stephen Redgrave and the RNIB with Diabetes UK, to raise awareness of the need for more eye screening in hospitals for Type 1 diabetes sufferers.

JDRF made Sarah an Ambassador for the charity's 5K run - she led a team of women from Leeds to London in order to take part in the run. Sarah's former collaborations include Vintage Marmalade - their recording of her 2015 song "The Road" sound-tracked her parliamentary awareness-raising campaign about the often fatal eating disorder EDMT1. Sarah campaigned in Holyrood for DWED along with DWED Director Jaqueline Allen, and MSP Dennis Robertson, as part of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week in 2015.
